A Blast From The Past and The Return of MSIG ARMY

First off, let me say it's an honor to have Marc Ruvolo like my Facebook page. He played in one the great punk bands, No Empathy. Pretty sure I saw them a bunch of times, but as the latest nominee for the Supreme Court, Jeff Sessions, or Oliver North can testify... it is difficult to recall things you do while blotto drunk, high as a kite, or in conspiracy with organized crime.  Nothing could make me forget Chia Pet. They'd be right up there at the top tied with Billy Goat and Action Man for bands that inspired me to dance myself senseless. At the only show Mikey and I ever promoted for our defunct Over The Top podcast, Das Kapital played a blazing set as part of an all star lineup that included White Flag, Fester, and Tesco Vee's Hate Police.

Second off, MSIG ARMY is coming back. There's a placeholder up there on msigarmy.com right now, but new content, old but never seen photos, new blogs, and new podcasts are in production.
Some of you know my better half in punk rock podcasting: Mikey Snot. So you know if I say next week or next month that might mean next year. But I've learned many of the subtle variations of how serious and how pissed off and motivated Mikey might be. Pretty sure this is happening.

We called our Over The Top podcast the true soundtrack to the Bush Administration. The same shit punks were screaming about in the Reagan era was true for George W. Bush and guess what? Still true. Trump played himself as something different. And he is something different and something worse, perhaps, but most of the same crappy things Reagan and Bush stood for... are crappier and more stacked up today. The clever variation, so far, is that they didn't start a war to pour an extra trillion dollars into the defense budget. So no WW3, yet, crossing my fingers on that, but Mike "We won the war in Iraq and lost the Peace" Pence is waiting in the wings to take over if and when the infomercial con-artist goes down hard for conspiracy with organized crime. Well, Nixon went down for using local goons to steal from the DNC. Trumpo the Clown used a foreign government. Who knows if that even counts for something anymore?

Last call for alcohol. Last call for freedom of speech. Last call for punk rock. Let's do this.

FUN FACT: when we first started our Over The Top podcast, MDC was the first band that reached out to us. They sent us their new CD and we came out of the gate early playing their old and new stuff (new stuff that is now 13 years old! ZOMG!)

Coincidence: MDC is playing Reggie's on October 17. Come for the anarchy but leave with some democratic socialist literature. Revolution on! Life. Liberty. Pursuit of Happiness. Punk rock.

Throwback Thursday - Buzz: 2005? '06? '07? in the MSIG ARMY studio goofing off instead of blogging or podcasting.

The Triumph of Fake News

I'm sad to say MSIGARMY.com has been purchased by a wingbat alt fascist group. My contract will not be renewed at the end of the year. Both Mikey and I will be replaced by rightwing trolls. Our last shows and blogs will be this summer. Our old shows and blogs have already been removed from the site. I still intend to occasionally make guest DJ appearances on WORT (89.5 FM Madison, WI) if Rev. Sly Velveteen and Bad Sister Heidi continue putting up with me.
